Dear Peter,
Hi! I hope this finds you well.
I am writing to thank you again for the lovely violin you sent me. No doubt, you must be tired of people praising your bass bars, but nevertheless I felt that I should express both my admiration and my gratitude. Each day this violin's virtues seem to unfold more and more as I play it. When I wrote to you initially I said that I was amazed at the recordings you had made on student violins that had been fitted with your bass bars, but now that I am playing one of your violins, I realize that I formed a very inadequate impression of what your invention actually does for a violin: the power of its sound is awesome and totally unforced; the dynamic range from a whispering pianissimo to the most robust fortissimo is almost incredibly easy to manipulate; the balance and rapport between the timbre of each of the strings makes string-crossings and double-stops a pleasure; the entire range of each of the strings sings easily, with wonderful clarity and without any breaks in tone or wolf tones; every note responds instantly, without any sensation of a delay; all of the harmonics, both natural and artificial, are easy to produce, singing and unfailing; each day the tone of the violin is revealing more of its delightful complexity, brilliance and sweetness ... I could go on and on, and I am sure that none of it comes as a surprise to you, though, believe me, it is a wonderful surprise for me! If this is your idea of a student violin, I am at a loss to imagine what a more professional violin would be capable of, if enhanced by one of your bass bars. Perhaps, a little further down the road, I shall find out, but until then I am delighted for the first time in my life to own a violin that does everything I ask of and more, without any fuss or fighting.
