Violins: Giulio Degani, 1908

Giulio Degani was the son and pupil of Eugenio. He is considered to be an important exponent of Venetian violin making from the latter part of the 19th century. He also worked with Giovanni Schwartz and Ettore Siega. In 1929 he emigrated to the USA and established himself in Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked until his death in 1955. He used his own intrepretation of the model of Stradivari. He won a gold medal in a Turin competion in 1911 and certificate of honor in Milan in 1909. This violin, made in 1908, is from his time in Venice. The condition is excellent and the tone is rich and pure. Back to Top
