Violins: Leopold Widhalm, German, 1770

The back is of one piece of maple with smallish and rather prominent curl sloping downward from left to right. The sides are maple with birdseye markings, and the scroll is of wood similar to that of the back. The top is of two pieces of spruce with medium grain at the center widening slightly to the flanks.

The varnish is an amber brown to a reddish brown color.
