Albert Nurnberger Viola Bow #3

Albert Nürnberger (b.1854, d.1931) was born in Markneukirchen, Germany, and trained in bow making by his father, Franz Albert, who himself studied with master maker Ludwig Bausch. Nürnberger established his own shop sometime around 1880, eventually training his own son, Carl Albert, in the craft. Grandson Karl Albert and great-grandson Christian Albert also followed in the family trade, with each maker using the same family brand. Nürnberger was known to export bows to the United States, where he was represented by the Wurlitzer shop as one of the greatest modern bow makers, and Nürnberger is still regarded as one of the greatest German bow makers today.
