Julius Heberlein Viola c.1910 15.25″

Julius Heberlein (b.1866) was born in Markneukirchen, Germany into a renowned family of legendary luthiers. He was especially known for his ability to create highly accurate violin reproductions. Many of Heberlein’s instruments made their way to the United States via the importer Oliver Ditson.

Heberlein used fine-grained spruce and maple to craft this fine German instrument. Antique varnish lends a golden-orange to brown hue and is accented by its warm and lustrous tone.
